A well cared-for insulated tumbler keeps its performance (insulation,
leak resistance) and avoids bad odours. Here are the simple steps to know — no harsh
chemicals needed, stainless steel doesn’t require them.
Everyday cleaning
Every part of our Stanley models is dishwasher safe: body, lid, straw. For hand
washing, take the lid and straw apart and clean them separately — that’s where
residue builds up most, not in the body of the tumbler.
Against bad odours
A little warm water, a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda, close it up and leave it
to work for an hour before rinsing thoroughly. The lid seal is often the part most
affected: remove it if it’s detachable to clean separately.
Descaling
If your tap water is hard, a mix of warm water and white vinegar (one third
vinegar to two thirds water) left for thirty minutes before a thorough rinse is
enough to dissolve limescale. Repeat roughly once a month depending on water
hardness.
Between uses
Leave it to air dry with the lid unscrewed rather than closed: airflow prevents
mould and bad odours from forming, especially after washing with hot water.
